Beware Pumpkin Guts

Punpkin_pulp Americans will scrape millions of pounds of pulp from pumpkins throughout the Halloween season. Unfortunately the plumber is becoming as common a Halloween visitor as little vampires and ghosts thanks to pumpkin pulp and seeds.Frantic homeowners will soon be complaining about pulp-clogged garbage disposals and kitchen sink drains in the two weeks leading up to Halloween.

Pumpkin pulp should never be put down drains or into garbage disposals. The slimy gunk is ideal for clogging sink drains. It's stringy and sticky and when it dries and hardens it will choke-off drainpipes and garbage disposals creating all sorts of havoc. Carving pumpkins in the sink is a very bad idea.

Green_toilet_paperSo...well I don't know if I completely LoveIT. At $15 for (I think) 3 rolls, it's something that only Sheryl Crow could afford. But it's interesting.

"Renova Toilet Paper has been dermatologically and gynecologically tested. It is a biodegradable, non-toxic, soothing tissue and does not bleed any color when wet. Made of 100% biodegradable, virgin pulp that is chlorine-free and entirely recyclable. "

Okay... and comes in black, orange, and red.

Also I didn't realize that gynecologists tested bathroom tissue.

Color News - Green is the New White

Debbie Zimmer, paint and color expert with The Rohm and Haas Paint Quality Institute has named green one of the top color trends for 2008.

“Green may just become the newest “neutral” color.” Used as a subtle backdrop to reflect an enhanced eco-consciousness and social responsibility, green will be representative of the growing environmental movement. Mid-tone hues of fern, palm, pine and sage will be used on their own or coupled with clear blue or aqua to create a living space that conjures up a sense of outdoor-friendly living. Sandy tan and adobe brown can be intermingled to complete that earthy and eco-friendly feel.

Try Something Different With A Japanese Garden

by imarket247
Japanese_garden_2Japanese Gardens are an interesting amalgamation of nature, spirituality and art. These gardens are meant to suggest harmony and create tranquility in your surroundings. Aiming to capture nature in the most innate way, these gardens are unique because they have been influenced by various chapters of Japanese history and also Shinto, Buddhist and Taoist philosophies.

History

Originally, Japanese Gardens represented a utopian land for the Japanese. Philosophies influencing creation of Japanese Gardens bring a sense of spirituality to the gardens. In the past, Japanese gardens were cut off from the masses, since the ruling elite and the religious classes used it as a place of peace and meditation. A Japanese emperor specifically built a garden in Kyoto so that he could spend his years in peace there. The Garden of the Silver Pavilion was another famous landmark used by a renowned soldier as a shelter from violence. The Buddhist influence makes the garden a paradise for peace and quietude, giving people the privilege to ponder and reflect upon their lives, or meditate.
